VIR 'Wild Hare' ....

As the Royale Formula Ford Challenge Series closes the book on VIR, here is our current points leaders - Overall:

1. Fraehlich, Thomas / 78 Crossle 32f
2. Bowers, Les / 71 Hawke DL2a
3. Allison, David / 69 Alexis MK14

Congratulations to all 21 who participated in the VIR 'Wild Hare' event. Next up is the Jefferson 500 with 43 cars entered and little over a month left. Current count put us close to 50, then registration will CLOSE so if you are on the fence I suggest you register now.

Due to the lack of entries in the open Formula F class, this group is closed. The good news is the RFFCS plans to have a feature race for HF and CF/FF only during the J500 race weekend.

For the full points tally, check out our www site

See you all at the J500!!

Indy SVRA race

Rick Parent just posted the latest entries for the All Formula Car event at Indy in June (see post on main page). FRP has not submitted entries yet, but needs to do so in the next week or two.

If you are thinking about going, and want to with FRP; please, please enter the race through FRPentry.com. The more entries we can show, the better chance we have a single run group and more track time than is posted on the SVRA website.

We have about 14 already signed up (not in the SVRA count) and another 3 or 4 who have indicated they're coming. 25 total would be great, 20 works.

Any questions, call FRP

2 Stroke Parts

Quite a bit of 2 stroke parts up for sale, including a running engine. We're finally switching to the 600 motors and that's getting mighty expensive.

Kawasaki 440 - Good compression. We did get it to fire up while still in the car before we started tearing it down this week. Last time the car ran for more than a minute was back in 2007 Autocrossing. Before that, the last official race for the car was March 1997. Has electric start.

Both drive belts are new and have never been used (era 2007). The old one failed at autocross and that was the last straw for me dealing with 2 strokes. We shelf'd the car and waited for the F6 to become legal.

Everything you see in the pictures is included... gearing, heads, clutches (and springs, weights, etc. That's in the black box), Aaen pipes & gauges, air filters, radiators (may or may not be any good).

I'll have an accurate list of parts sometime this weekend when the engine is finally removed from the car.

Not really sure what to ask for all of this.
Asking $500 obo. Maybe willing to trade for 5 lug rims, tires, MyCron 4+, anything that might be useful with the F6.

(euroswift) Swift FB91 partout

regretfully parting out a 1991 swift FB91. This car was initially sold without logbooks and was never issued any SCCA logbooks. One of the previous owners had some kind of incident that damaged the transmission case. that was repaired (badly) and by the time I got the car significant work was needed to get the car running again. Long story short, the continuing saga of my transmission wagging the dog will, if I fix the car again, cost more than the my initial purchase price and a few key unubtainum pieces that were damaged, put the repair of the car outside of most practical budgets. So after looking around, I had found another FB91 (that was actually historically significant being one of the factory team cars), and I was going to use this car for parts, but... overseas transportation costs were too high

These pieces will fit euroswift models from 1989-1992. All suspension parts come with bolts, T bushing, shims needed to install on your car.

detailed photos can be found here: Swift FB91 part-out
I'll be slowly updating this thread with pictures, but I have many photos to go through and scale down for Apex-speed and that will take time

The car can be sold as a slider, you will need to provide a LD200 and an engine for $8k.

if interested in anything, email me with what you want at chrisdwarner52@gmail.com AND post a response to this thread.

FV Pistons

I'm looking for a new set of forged pistons for a 1200 rebuild.
About all I'm seeing on the shelves are the AA cast sets. I spoke to a rep from that company and he didn't think anything they had would be reliable at the rpms we run.

What's available that anyone here might recommend?

Racing Suits for Sale

Cleaning out the closet and have 2 suits in good shape that I figured could find their way back on track.

The Alpinestars suit is red/black/white, and was worn from 2007-2009. Size 56 Euro. It has no rips or holes. Small stain around the left knee where the shifter used to rub. Asking $400/OBO

The Sparco suit is black/white, and is virtually brand new. Size 60. It was only used during the 2010 season. Same condition as above, just slightly less use. Asking $450/OBO

Both of these suits won multiple races, and never finshed worse than 2nd in a Championship Season. They've got plenty of good Mojo.

I'll take payment via Venmo, and pay shipping to the Lower 48.

Thanks,
Cole Morgan

ID on LeGrand Chassis

I know there is an exsisting thread on LeGrand ID. Are there any LeGrand Sports Racer owners that could tell me if Red LeGrand placed a chassis plate or stamped any ID numbers into frame members " or"? to identify the type car such as MK. 18 and a chassis number? If so where might this info be found on the car? Thanks for any information and your time and consideration. Jerry

Challenge Cup/F1200 Trailer

Ugly open trailer perfect for FV with radial tires.
I have been saving it but have no car that fits on it currently, and only been used recently for taking lawn tractor for repairs. If someone needs a trailer, I will sell for $500. Originally built for narrow short wheelbase FF but perfect for FV with big wheels and tires. Been to Runoffs many times. Tows behind car or small van easily. Low-rider configuration means it tows as fast as you want to go with no sway. No springs. No brakes. Needs minor repairs and a coat of Rustoleum. Will register as homebuilt. Located near Niagara Falls. greg13rice-at-hotmail.com.

Challenge Cup/F1200 Trailer

So I think this is pretty cool

I just had this information forwarded to me, and it's yet to be fully confirmed (but should be by this weekend). And I needed to share it with you guys. But first a little back story.

So back when we started putting together Northwest FC, one of the first things that got brought up was that a car from the region went missing. Trail of ownership went cold circa 2009. That car was a swift DB-1, that had been converted to a 2.0 liter by Jim Sloane, branded a DB-3, and piloted by him for years. Tony Opheim was the next owner, and then he sold it to Russ Bishop, and after that the trail ended with Vince Zimmer's son running it. We reached out to as many of the previous owners that we knew of including Vince (when I bought my Mazda 6, 6 years ago through a craigslist ad that just so happens to be posted by him) the last known owner, to find out if any of them knew what happened. Nearest we could figure is that it ended up in someone's shop after a shunt and if memory serves with plans to be converted back to a 1600, but never showed up at a track and no one heard about it.

Warning, tangent ahead. Now, why would anyone care about some weird converted DB-1 turned DB-3? Good question. Back in 2005 my dad, Greg, had spent way too much time poking around the internet looking to get back into racing after taking a break as I grew up. He decided he would get back in not by getting a spec car that would test his mettle as a driver, as he had raced in a previous racing life, but instead pick the cheapest, fastest car that had been one of the prettiest and inspiring cars, but was out of reach financially and as a time commitment when he had first started in the sport. Curveball, it was a Lola 340. That car never made it to anything more than an autocross, because he also found a swift db-3 for a ridiculously low sum of money in Ohio a little while after. When he went to go pick up the car he noticed a lot of components on the car were nicer than what the price would have suggested. On the way home, it was noticed that said car was the DB-3 prototype, originally driven by RK smith in the 85 Canadian F2000 championship, which he won. Also eventually owned by Doug Learned, who was quite fast in it, and some guy who's name escapes me but races in European enduro races now. This would be cool in and of itself, but what is special to me about this car was that I learned the racing ropes with it. Used my time crewing on it as my senior project in high school. Took my drivers school in this car, back in 2011, before starting my own family and taking my own extended break from racing. We haven't put this car on track in a couple years as it has been undergoing an extensive renovation itself, but I still know it like the back of my hand. This is why DB-3's have a special place in my heart. The missing car happens to be the only Swift F2000 that is older than my Dad's.

Fast forward to tonight. After years of pulling on any thread that leads us to this car it comes to our attention that a "1984" Swift DB-3 just registered for the upcoming double regional at Portland this weekend. If year is correctly stated, this is the car we are looking for. It's registered to Wade Carter who happened to be running an FA at our first NWFC event in 2014. It also happens that Tony Opheim, one of the previous owners we had looked to for more info, and my Dad, who has been looking for this as much as I have, were already registered for this event. How weird?

The original northwest FC thread here on apex, 4 years ago, where the missing car gets mentioned in post #2

Registration for this weekend

I'm looking forward to hearing more about where this car has been and hopefully a full confirmation that this is the missing car. Hopefully, adding one more of the missing FC's in the Northwest back into our field in NWFC! Stay tuned.

So I think this is pretty cool
