Wikileaks has posted a secret e-mail explaining why Mike Rand has been going so fast at Lime Rock. It turns out that Mike has been using Neodymium magnets as ballast weight all these years. Lime Rock being a former iron mine, Mike realized that with the new high-strength magnets, he could achieve real "ground-effects" and keep his Crossle stuck to the track.
This would also explain why he scales heavier than class weight, although he explained it to Tech workers as just Tracy's good cooking.
There were other side effects that took a while to realize. Mike lost three expensive watches when he wore them while racing and tells people he has a technology phobia so they keep their computers away from his car, so their hard drive does not become erased.
Now that his secret is out, the SCCA is considering a ride height rule for cars using these magnets in order to minimize the effect.
