Curious about the true run costs of a FM or an FC car by the hour? For example I know this about my vette:
Avg track day temps are about 70-80*F days. This data is an average that I've found. Some of the days there was rain, some cloudy and 50*, but most were nice 75* days though.
Carbotech XP8 pads on all 4 corners (BARELY enough for this track at the 1.40 mark) Lasted about 10-12 hours (with about 1000mi of street driving/commuting sprinkled in) - GREAT pads on the street though.
NT01's - 275/305 setup - about 20 hours of track time on them and they're still kickin for more, also about 3,000mi on the street (canyon roads fun driving). I think when I would measure they would lose about 1/16th every 6-8 hours.
Oil - I run Royal Purple 10w40 - change about every 10 hours, so about 2-3 track days (try to keep oil temps under 270*F - if it breaks 270* I'll run at 5/10ths to cool down and then get back in it)
Trans and diff fluid are both RP - just factory recommended weights - change once every 20-25 hours or so
Brake fluid - Motul 600 - Change every 3-5 days depending on braking demands on track, so about 12-15 hours
PS fluid - RP - change once every 25-30 hours or so, which is about 5-7 days
Personally at each track 'day' I get about 4-5 hours of track time.
Overall:
Tires - $1,200 - (just assume 30 hours to be safe as most people are a lot faster than I) - $40/hr
Brakes - $350 (XP8s) - 10 hours - $35/hr $430 (XP12/10 which is next setup) - 8 hours - $55/hr
Oil - $90 - 10 hours - $9/hr
Trans and Diff fluid - $200 - 25 hours = $8/hr
Brake/clutch fluid - $60 - 12 hours = $5/hr
PS Fluid - $30 - 25 hours = $1/hr
Fuel - 92 oct pump gas @ about $3/gal (easy math) I go through about 5-6 gallons/hr = $18/hr
Spark plugs (yearly) - TR6's - $20/year
Valve springs (gotta love a big cam) - $300/year
Total consumables = $136/hr+ = $544/day+ (again, about 4 hours of driving)
Curious if anyone has anything like this they have done. Just trying to see how the switch will go.
Thanks fellas!
