Race Prepping a Pinto Block

I've done some searching and I found references to Race Prepping a block but no actual points about what is done....

Since Purple Frog hasn't written his book yet, I've gotta ask.

What's does race prepping entail?
- Cleaning off remnant casting pieces?

- Does anyone tap and plug the oil gallery at the back instead of using the ball bearing?
- Any of the other force-fit plugs replaced that way?

I'm at the early stages of building a motor. What should be on the list?
